Privacy Policy — Anonymous Chat: Stranger Connect
The short version
- No real names, no phone number, no email, no contacts, no location tracking. You are a nickname and an anonymous account ID.
- Chats are ephemeral: history is deleted from our servers when both people close the chat, or within 24 hours after one person closes it.
- Shared images are retained for 90 days for safety-moderation purposes, then automatically deleted.
- "Anonymous" means anonymous to other users — not beyond the law. We can and will disclose what little we hold when legally required.
What we collect
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous account ID (random, generated on device) | To operate your session | Until account deletion |
| Nickname, optional gender, interests, matching preference | Matching you with strangers | Until account deletion |
| Confirmation that you passed the age gate (a yes/no flag and timestamp — never your date of birth) | 18+ compliance | Until account deletion |
| Chat messages | Delivering the conversation | Deleted when both participants close the chat; at most 24 hours after one participant closes it |
| Shared images | Delivery + mandatory safety scanning | 90 days, then automatic deletion |
| Reports you file or that name you, including a copy of recent messages from the reported chat | Moderation, safety, legal compliance | As long as needed for moderation and legal obligations (up to 90 days after any report to authorities, longer where law requires) |
| Block records | Preventing rematches | Permanent |
| Basic device/technical data (app version, crash data) | Keeping the service working | Rolling, short-term |
We do not collect: real names, phone numbers, email addresses, contact lists, precise location, advertising identifiers for tracking, or biometric data.
Image scanning
Every image sent through the app is automatically scanned before delivery against known child-sexual-abuse-material databases and for nudity/explicit content. Images that match or exceed thresholds are blocked and may be preserved and reported to authorities (see below). This scanning is not optional and applies to every image, from every user.
The limits of anonymity
We designed the service to hold as little as possible, but:
- If a report or scan indicates child sexual abuse material or exploitation, we preserve the relevant content and report it to NCMEC or the relevant authority, as the law requires.
- We respond to valid legal process (court orders, subpoenas, equivalent regional instruments) by disclosing what we hold — which is limited to the data listed above.
- We may retain data longer than stated where a specific legal preservation obligation applies.
Your rights
Depending on your region (EU/UK GDPR, California CPRA, and equivalents), you may have rights to access, delete, or object to processing of your data. Because accounts are anonymous, we can only act on requests made from inside the app (Settings → [ACCOUNT/DATA REQUEST FLOW]) — we usually cannot link an email request to an account, by design. Deleting the app does not delete your account; use the in-app deletion option.
Children
The service is for adults 18+ only. We do not knowingly process data of anyone under 18; discovered underage accounts are deleted. See our Child Safety Standards.
Where data lives
Data is processed on Google Firebase (Google Cloud) infrastructure ([REGIONS: e.g., us-central1 / nam5]). Google acts as our processor under its data-processing terms.
Changes
We will post changes here with a new effective date; material changes are announced in-app before they take effect.
